Description:

Students experience a bioinformatics project in an active research laboratory. They gain practical bioinformatics experience in a research environment. Students interact with active researchers to complete a project that demonstrates their core bioinformatics competencies and skills.

Student Evaluation: Completion and approval of a final project
Learning Objective:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1) perform an analysis or develop a bioinformatics tool that aids in the analysis of biological or biomedical data; 2) write a written report documenting the results of the analysis or describing the tool; and 3) publish the results of the project in the form of a web site describing the work or as a web interface for the tool.
