Living for the FutureWater Related Projects H2O Conserve CLF worked with the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility, GRACE, and Food & Water Watch to develop the water calculator "H20 Conserve" that estimates an individual's "water footprint." CLF provided technical assistance regarding the virtual water content of three average diets, a meat based diet; an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet; and a vegan diet, based on the amount of water required to produce the foods that comprise each diet. The calculator accounts for everything from the water you see flowing from the tap to the unseen water used in industrial processes at electrical power plants. American Museum of Natural History: "Water: H2O= Life" CLF provided technical assistance to the American Museum of Natural History's exhibit "Water: H2O = Life," which opened in New York City in November 2007.
The exhibition allows visitors to learn about and explore the challenges to sustainable management of water in the 21st century. Following its debut in New York, the exhibit began its international tour in San Diego, with subsequent stops planned in St. Paul, Chicago, Cleveland, Canberra, Australia, and Toronto, Canada. CLF also published an article, "Dangerous Waters," on water scarcity and contamination in the magazine Natural History. Chesapeake Bay Watershed Project CLF co-sponsored the first annual meeting of the Pesticides and the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Project with the Maryland Pesticide Network which convened experts from fields in agriculture, public health, watershed advocacy, and local government to address concerns related to the public health and environmental impacts related to the use of pesticides in the watershed. |
