Spira/GRACE Project on Industrial Animal Production Launched in 1999, the Spira/GRACE Project focuses on documenting and communicating the public health and environmental implications of industrial food animal production (IFAP) and promoting humane, more sustainable practices that do not harm the environment and human health. The Project works closely with Johns Hopkins University faculty, staff and students. Its key activities include: - Identifying gaps in our knowledge and supporting scientific research on IFAP
- Generating scholarly publications, synthesis documents, and resource tools
- Serving as a technical resource for advocacy organizations, policymakers and other stakeholders to reduce the harm generated by IFAP practices
- Raising awareness of IFAP’s public health implications among public health professionals and policymakers
The Project honors the spirit of Henry Spira, a visionary activist who understood the need for concerted action to employ science and ethics to secure the goal of a just, humane and sustainable future. |
