Eat Locally, Sustainably, and Humanely

  • Join a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Farm
  • Find a Farmers’ Market
    • Maryland Farmers’ Market Directory: The Maryland Farmers' Market Guide includes names, addresses and phone numbers for Farmers' Markets throughout Maryland.
    • Waverly/32nd Street Farmers’ Market, Baltimore: The market is a nonprofit organization offering membership to shoppers, farmers, and community residents. The Farmers' Market is open every Saturday from 7 a.m to noon. Come early! Parking spaces fill up after 9!
  • Food Certification Information – What do all those different labels mean?
  • Kosher, Sustainable Meat: Find resources to help you locate ethical kosher meats.
  • Local Harvest: Local Harvest maintains a definitive and reliable nationwide directory of small farms, farmers markets, and other local food sources. Its search engine helps people find local sources of sustainably grown food, and encourages them to establish direct contact with family farms in their local area.
  • Magen Tzedek: Kashrut for the 21st Century: Founded on the principle that we are what we eat, Magen Tzedek is a designation signifying that kosher food has been prepared with the highest degree of integrity. Products carrying the Magen Tzedek seal reflect the highest standard on a variety of important issues: employee wages and benefits, health and safety, animal welfare, corporate transparency and environmental impact.

  • Find a farm where you can Pick Your Own fruits and vegetables. Fun, affordable, and supportive of local agriculture, this is a great activity for individuals and groups.
