2nd Annual Hopkins Holi-Healthfest

The SEE Campaign sponsored the second annual Hopkins Holi-Healthfest last Friday afternoon at the Ralph S. O’Connor Recreation Center to introduce students to a variety of holistic health services and promote healthy, balanced living. Over two hundred people attended the event, which spanned three hours, and over one hundred completed surveys that will provide baseline data for the SEE for Yourself Monday campaign. Students tasted delicious veggies, tried acupuncture, made stress balls, and much more! Many picked up information about the effects of adequate sleep and performance, as well as tips on how to eat well at college and fitting exercise into a busy schedule. “It’s our most successful event of the year,” observed Barbara Gwinn, Associate Director for the Center for Health Education & Wellness, “and we hope that it will become bigger and more well attended each year.”

SEE stands for Sleep, Eat, & Exercise: the campaign encourages students to get enough rest, exercise regularly and eat healthy meals. Sponsors of the Homewood-based campaign include the Center for a Livable Future, the O’Conner Recreation Center, the Center for Health Education and Wellness, and the CounselingCenter. Healthy Monday is a national network promoting Monday as the day of increased health awareness and action.
