The research environment of the Center is multi-institutional, involving faculty and collaboration across multiple departments in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the School of Medicine, and other institutions. Research activities include the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical trials; performance of systematic reviews and meta-analysis of the research evidence; methodological work, such as studies of bias in study design and dissemination of results; and examination of the language and nomenclature of trials. The subject matter of the clinical trials and systematic reviews conducted by the Center covers a variety of health conditions including but not limited to the ocular complications of AIDS, uveitis, non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, Alzheimer's disease, childhood asthma, emphysema, Barrett's esophagus, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
