| Native Circle Student Group Description: Native Circle was founded in 2002 by a group of Johns Hopkins Native American graduate students. Native Circle is comprised of Hopkins students, staff, faculty and community members who are committed to training, educating, supporting and advancing the well being of Native American people through self-determination, academic achievement and community service. Purpose: To bring together Native American students and interested individuals from the Hopkins community who aspire to learn more about and/ or dedicate their lives to serving the health needs of Native American people. Mission: To build a shared commitment among Native American students and faculty who aim to contribute their careers to the improved health, well being and self-sufficiency of Native American tribes. Goals: The goals of Native Circle include, (a) to provide spiritual, emotional, personal and academic support for Native American students; (b) to bring awareness and understanding of Native American culture to the Hopkins community; (c) to help recruit Native American students and scholars; (d) to create a dialogue in addressing issues related to Native American health, education, social, economic and culture; and (e) to create a network of other educational centers and resources serving Native American people.
