‘Connecting Health and Sustainability’ Series Underway at JHSPH
A seminar series featuring several prominent experts on issues of sustainability continues at the Bloomberg School of Public Health each week through October. The series, “Connecting Health and Sustainability,” brings together experts from fields including environmental justice, the food system, human rights/resource conflict, environmental economics, mass media, and health communication to illustrate the connection between how we use and live on this planet and the resulting impact on public health and the environment....Read More.....
Healthy Monday Launches Newsletter, Names President
The Healthy Monday Campaign, designed to help Americans start and sustain healthier behaviors by focusing messages around the start of the week, has launched an “insider’s” newsletter to provide updates on the rapidly growing national campaign. Healthy Monday has also named its first president, Peggy Neu, who will oversee the Monday Campaigns. CSA’s Extra Shares: Where do they go?
The practice of tithing dates to biblical times when farmers were expected to donate one tenth of their crops to those community members who could not produce for themselves. CLF Examines Media Coverage of Food System Contributions to Climate Change
A new study conducted by researchers at JHSPH shows the nation’s top newspapers have largely overlooked the food system as one of the more important contributors to global climate change. The two year study analyzed coverage by 16 of the nation’s leading circulation newspapers, finding only 2.4 percent of the articles on climate change included even brief mention of the contributions of food and agriculture to greenhouse gas emissions....Read More.....
