How to propose amendments to the constitution or by-laws

The best way for non-Student Assembly members to propose amendments to the Constitution is to contact the Student Assembly  President and request that the Constitution Committee meet and discuss the proposal.  If the committee decides to accept the amendment, committee members will then present the amendment to the Student Assembly for a vote.  If the Assembly approves the vote, the amendment is put forward to the entire Student Association for a final vote.

Alternatively, students can propose an amendment to the constitution and by-pass the Student Assembly vote by collecting the signatures of 100 Student Association Members.  The Assembly elections committee will verify the signatures, and then the amendment is put forward to the entire Student Association for a vote.

For amendments to the by-laws, students should contact the Student Assembly President and ask for a meeting of the Constitution Committee to discuss the proposal.  If the committee accepts the proposal, committee members will then present the proposed amendments to the Student Assembly for a final vote.
