The purpose of the BGSA as it relates to our mission at the Bloomberg School of Public Health will be:

1. To establish an atmosphere where Black Culture and ideas can be explored and celebrated.

2. To assist graduate students by providing information and resources vital to inital and continued success at JHSPH.

3. To promote and unite all members of the African Diaspora through collaboration efforts and events.

4. To give graduate students the opportunity to engage in fellowship and bond through social outings and activities.

5. To provide opportunities for graduate students to network with faculty, staff, and industry members.

6. To represent the interests of the Black graduate student body with respect to the institute.

7. To communicate with underrepresented students interested in graduate study, especially at JHSPH.

8. To participate in outreach activities and programs to uplift the community.

9. To provide a forum, open to all students of Johns Hopkins University and the community where issues pertaining to Black people can be addressed.
