AcademyHealth Student Chapter Mission Statement The JHSPH Academy Health Student Chapter is an affiliate of AcademyHealth -- the primary professional organization of health services and health policy researchers and practitioners in the US. Our organization aims to provide students interested in these issues and topic areas with resources and events designed to: - Offer opportunities to network with regional and national experts;
- Access the latest news and research in the field;
- Stay current on best practices in current methodologies;
- Keep up to date with policy and politics impacting major federal and state health programs; and
- Discover the variety of ways to employ public health degrees in health services and health policy.
AcademyHealth Mission Statement As the preeminent professional society for health services researchers and healht policy analysts, AcademyHealth collaborates with its members and other key stakeholders to: Support the development of health services research by: - Expanding and improving the scientific basis of the field;
- Increasing the capabilities and skills of researchers; and
- Promoting the development of the necessary financial, human, infrastructure, and data resources.
Facilitate the use of the best available research and information by: - Translating research findings and the lessons of experience into useful information for clinical, management, and policy decisions; and
- Enhancing communication and interaction between health services researchers and health policymakers.
Assist health policy and practice leaders in addressing major health challenges by: - Providing high quality policy and technical assistance;
- Offering educational programs that advance the use of policy analysis and research; and
- Identifying areas where additional research and information are needed.
To fulfill its mission, AcademyHealth is committed to both strengthening the research base and promoting the use of this information in public and private decision-making.
