Dr. Gil Burnham visits alumni in the Republic of Korea
Dr. Gilbert Burnham recently visited alumni in the Republic of Korea and participated in an overseas disaster response workshop in Seoul on June 7th at Yonsei University School of Public Health.
As part of the trip, Dr. Burnham spoke to university students at Yonse (Seoul) and Yonse (Wonju), Ewa, Seoul National, and Catholic University of Korea, to students at the Red Cross College of Nursing in Seoul, and to about 500 high school students about international health in Daegu. He spent time working with Korean NGOs to help them develop an assistance approach to respond more effectively in emergencies.
He also worked on putting together the first course in disaster response for public health students and NGO health workers. It will take place at Yonsei University in September, with Dr. Robinson and Dr. Burnham as guest lecturers. The trip was arranged by Dr. Myung Lee and Dr. Ogcheol Lee, former posdoctoral fellows at the Bloomberg School, and Dr. Hoon Sang Lee, an MPH alumnus.
