Barbara Brocato, Robin Shaivitz, Lisa Harris Jones, Frank Boston, and Pegeen Townsend
Lobbyists: Hired guns manipulating the political process or essential advocates in the machinery of democracy? How do lobbyists work? How do they see the political system? You know the issues, but if you really want to influence policy and policy makers, you won’t want to miss hearing from our panel of experts. They represent diverse clients: hospitals and universities, police and health professionals, railroads and the tobacco industry. They are the masters of persuasion. Listen, learn their secrets, and be more effective. Our only repeat panel because it’s so popular.

    • Rising to the Challenge: Palo Alto Time: 5:45p - 8:30p Location: Four Seasons Hotel, Silicon Valley at East Palo Alto Details:

In just two weeks, at Rising to the Challenge: Palo Alto, you'll have the chance to engage with President Ronald J. Daniels, and have fun with fellow Hopkins alumni, parents, and friends. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in a thought-provoking exploration into the science of learning — one of the priorities of Rising to the Challenge: The Campaign for Johns Hopkins. That is, if you sign up today.

As a proud alumna of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences — and an even prouder parent of a member of the Class of 2017 — I am especially excited to hear Krieger School cognitive scientist Barbara Landau, PhD, describe the work of the new Johns Hopkins Science of Learning Institute.

Together with a panel of experts from across the university she will lead us in an interactive dialogue on some of the mysteries of learning and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in this fascinating field.

      It's not too late.
Register today, and share your ideas, perspectives, and questions on how we learn.

I look forward to seeing you on October 24.

      Sincerely,

      Heather H. Murren
