Rebecca Onie, JD (pictured top) is a MacArthur Fellow and World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. She is the Co-Founder and CEO of Health Leads, a Boston-based nonprofit organization that enables physicians and other healthcare providers to “prescribe” food, heat, exercise programs, and other basic resources their patients need to be healthy — and deploys nearly a thousand trained college student advocates into clinic waiting rooms to work side-by-side with patients in securing these resources.
Kathryn Edin, PhD (pictured bottom) is a leading poverty researcher, deploying ethnographic observations, in-depth interviews, and mixed method approaches to work within the domains of welfare and low-wage work, family life, and neighborhood contexts.
