The Delta Omega Scholarship Endowment was established by members of the Alpha Chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Public Health Society to promote outstanding scholarship and research by providing support to individual students whose research proposals demonstrate merit.
Only currently registered students or postdoctoral fellows from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health can apply for up to $1,000 to defray all or part of the cost of a research project or scholarly activity.
Each year the Chapter accepts applications from the School's students or postdoctoral fellows. All applications are reviewed competitively by a panel of society members, who will assign priority scores based on a judgment of each project's feasibility, scientific or scholarly merit, and significance for public health. The scholarship application process opens each spring. The deadline for 2013 applications has passed. The announcement of the winners will be made on April 12, 2013. Announcements regarding the 2014 applications will be made next Spring.
The Scholarship Endowment is supported entirely by dues-paying members of the Chapter, which seeks to promote excellence in public health scholarship and research. In 1993, the Chapter created a Lifetime Member Category that generates funds for the Endowment each year. The Lifetime Member Category allows members the opportunity to waive their obligation of $50 for annual dues by paying a one-time fee of $500 that goes directly to the Endowment.
