Frail and Anemic Mouse Models

Translation to Humans:

  • Assess impact of inflammation and anesthesia on post-op delirium and cognition
  • Recruiting 200 elective surgery patients
    • Measure IL-6, cortisol, cognition, pre-op
    • Measure delirium in perioperative period
    • Measure cognition at 4 months

Genetics:

  • Establish at-risk genotypes for frailty and late life decline
  • Use results as clues to identify biological pathways implicated in aging and metabolic processes
