This is a biennial conference co-sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Center on Aging and Health, the Baltimore City Health Department and the Baltimore City Commission on Aging and Retirement Education. It is named in honor of Dr. Matthew Tayback, a longtime Johns Hopkins faculty member in geriatric medicine, biostatistics and international health, as well as Maryland's first commissioner on aging.
The 1st Biennial Tayback Conference was held on December 14, 2006. The 2nd Biennial Tayback Conference was held on December 17, 2008. The purpose of the conference is to present scientific evidence and best practices about pertinent issues that impact the health and well-being of older adults from a public health perspective. The conference also addresses the experience of need in our city and city-level program development to identify approaches that could be implemented by the city of Baltimore and serve as models that could be replicated in other cities.
