In support of workforce development, education and training initiatives within the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and all of its subordinate organizations, HHS University has partnered with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) to offer for-credit courses, select for-credit certificates and the part-time/online Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program for eligible participants.
The following information breaks down the benefits, eligibility and opportunities created through this partnership.
Benefits
Regarding for-credit courses, select for-credit certificates and the part-time/online MPH, the following benefits apply:
- 10% tuition reduction (tuition reductions will not be awarded retroactively)
- Application fee waiver upon successful admittance to JHSPH identified for credit certificates and the part-time/online MPH
Eligibility
- Actively employed, full-time federal employees at HHS, its divisions, and reporting agencies. For a list of eligible HHS divisions/agencies, click here.
- Contractors to HHS, its divisions and reporting agencies are eligible.
- Dependents and spouses are not eligible for this benefit.
- Participants must meet all admissions requirements to the identified JHSPH for-credit courses, for-credit certificates and the part-time/online MPH and continue in good academic standing within those programs, as well as be and remain in compliance with all JHSPH policies.
- Before registration, participants will be required to verify their eligibility by producing an official HHS employee or contractor badge, a current HHS paystub, an email verifying employment sent from an HHS email address, or a letter verifying employment sent on HHS letterhead.
- Participants who discontinue their employment or contractual status with HHS, its divisions, vendors, and reporting agencies, are required to notify JHSPH and will no longer be eligible for the benefits.
The following for-credit courses, for-credit certificates and the part-time/online MPH are eligible for this benefit:
Courses for Non-degree Seeking Students
Select from over 400 JHSPH on-site courses, of which over 100 are available online.
To register for a course as a non-degree seeking student, called Special Student Limited, please follow the instructions found here. HHS employment verification as noted above must be provided to the Office of Continuing Education and Student Services prior to registration.
Part-time/Online MPH
To apply for the part-time/online MPH (Schoolwide degree program), please click here. In order to process your application under this agreement, you will need to provide an official HHS employee or contractor badge, a current HHS paystub, an email verifying employment sent from an HHS email address, or a letter verifying employment sent on HHS letterhead to the JHSPH Admissions Services Office. The Bloomberg School also provides the content of over 100 courses free to anyone in the world at Open CourseWare (OCW) and offers free courses through Coursera.
