Welcome studentsIt seems like convocation was just last week and already the halls are busy with students attending Summer Institutes or beginning their online/part-time MPH.

And would you believe?

Orientation for full-time MPH students is less than a month away!

Are you coming? Are you ready?

Orientation is mandatory for incoming students. The June 30-July 1 event is for full-time MPH students only (there’s a separate orientation in August for all other incoming degree students).

We’ve developed a checklist to help you prepare. This and other details regarding Orientation may be found on the Admitted Student Website (login and password required).

As always, you can email us with any questions.

Hope to see you soon!

SOPHAS logoThis spring brings a major change to Admissions Services.

Our Schoolwide Master of Public Health (MPH) will begin moving its application process to the Schools of Public Health Application System (SOPHAS).

In fact, you can apply to the online/part-time MPH beginning in November 2014 in Barcelona, Spain through SOPHAS right now!

We’ve revised our application instructions to reflect this change and will keep you posted as new MPH applications open. Detailed instructions for MPH applicants have also been posted. If you plan to apply to the MPH, please review these instructions carefully!

At this time, all of our other degree and certificate applications will continue to be processed through the Bloomberg School’s Admissions Services. This includes the Master of Health Administration (MHA), Master of Public Policy (MPP), Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), Master of Health Science (MHS), Master of Science (ScM), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Science (ScD) and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH).

Now more than ever, we encourage you to thoroughly research your options here at our School so that you know your program, its requirements, and its application!

As always, feel free to email if you have any questions.

Best wishes to you!

Student celebrates good newsGreat news!

The final application deadline for the full-time MPH program has been extended to January 31, 2014!

You have thirty additional days to submit your application and materials!

Just keep in mind, if you have international academic records, you need to have them evaluated by a third-party credentials evaluation agency. This process generally takes at least a month. In order to make the January 31 deadline, we suggest you start the evaluation process no later than January 6.

All other materials - including the online application, test scores, domestic transcripts and letters of recommendation – should be received or postmarked by January 31. In order to make this deadline, we suggest you request domestic transcripts no later than January 21.

If you’re not ready to apply to the full-time program this January, the application for our next full-time cohort will open through SOPHAS in September 2014.

The Bloomberg School also offers the MPH in an online/part-time format with start dates in June, November and January. The application for the June 2014 start date is open now (priority deadline – January 2, final deadline – February 1). The application for the November 2014 Barcelona, Spain cohort will open in SOPHAS March 1, 2014.

You can also take courses as a non-degree seeking student as soon as January as long as you register for Introduction to Online Learning by January 10.  These courses can apply to your degree should you enroll in the MPH.

Deadline Alert! Are you applying to the full-time or on-line/part-time Master of Public Health (MPH)?

Listen up! This post is for you!

The MPH program office has implemented priority AND final application deadlines.

They are:

  • Summer 2014 Full Time Matriculation
Priority Application Deadline: December 1, 2013
Final Application Deadline: January 2, 2014
  • Summer 2014 Online/Part-Time Matriculation
Priority Application Deadline: January 2, 2014
Final Application Deadline: February 1, 2014

What is a priority deadline?

If you submit all of your application materials by the PRIORITY deadline your application will receive priority review.  All MPH applicants are considered for scholarships, but if you complete your application by the priority deadline, you increase your chances of receiving one.

It’s yet another reason to complete your application early!

What is a final deadline?

All application materials (e.g. transcripts, transcript evaluations, letters of recommendation, standardized test scores, etc) must be received by the FINAL deadline.  Once the final deadline has passed, incomplete applications may not be reviewed.

The MPH Program Office and Admissions Services hope this new deadline structure will provide a better guide for when you should submit your application and supporting materials. Please let us know if you have any questions.

To begin your application, visit How to Apply and/or read earlier posts detailing the process on this blog.

For all other degree program deadlines, please see the application deadline chart.

October 1The application deadline for the online/part-time Master of Public Health (MPH) program beginning January 2014 has been extended!

If you wish to apply, you now have until October 1 to submit your application and supporting materials!
