applying onlineAugust?

How can that be?

It seems if you blink, you find yourself here—at the start of a new school year and a new application season.

Our applications for the 2015-2016 academic year will open mid-August, but you can find information about requirements, deadlines and how to apply on our website now.

VERY IMPORTANT
This year, the Bloomberg School will be using two applications systems:

  • SOPHAS for Schoolwide Master of Public Health programs
  • the Bloomberg School application for all other programs
(MHA, MHS, MPP, MSPH, ScM, PhD, DrPH, ScD, various certificates, and Residencies - including the dual Residency/MPH)

We can’t say this enough:

KNOW YOUR PROGRAM, ITS APPLICATON AND APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS!

Choosing the wrong application can seriously delay or even stop your progress through the admission process.

Please carefully review our “How to Apply” and contact us if you have any questions.

Best wishes to you and your application!

sophas logoIn March, we let you know about a big change in Admissions Services.

Applications to our Schoolwide Master of Public Health (MPH) would be moving to the Schools of Public Health Application Services (SOPHAS).

In fact, the MPH Program Office is accepting applications to two cohorts through SOPHAS now!

The open applications are:

The priority deadline for these two programs is July 1, 2014.
The final deadline is August 1, 2014.

For detailed information on how to apply, see our instructions specific to MPH applicants.

The application for our full-time MPH, beginning July 2015, will open through SOPHAS in September 2014.

The application for our many other public health degrees (MHA, MHS, MPP, MSPH, ScM, PhD, DrPH, and ScD) will open late-summer through the existing ApplyYourself system.

SOPHAS logoThis spring brings a major change to Admissions Services.

Our Schoolwide Master of Public Health (MPH) will begin moving its application process to the Schools of Public Health Application System (SOPHAS).

In fact, you can apply to the online/part-time MPH beginning in November 2014 in Barcelona, Spain through SOPHAS right now!

We’ve revised our application instructions to reflect this change and will keep you posted as new MPH applications open. Detailed instructions for MPH applicants have also been posted. If you plan to apply to the MPH, please review these instructions carefully!

PLEASE NOTE:

At this time, all of our other degree and certificate applications will continue to be processed through the Bloomberg School’s Admissions Services. This includes the Master of Health Administration (MHA), Master of Public Policy (MPP), Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), Master of Health Science (MHS), Master of Science (ScM), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Science (ScD) and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH).

Now more than ever, we encourage you to thoroughly research your options here at our School so that you know your program, its requirements, and its application!

As always, feel free to email jhsph.admiss@jhu.edu if you have any questions.

Best wishes to you!

Open signOur application season began in December, but some of our programs are still open!

The following programs would love to review your completed application:

The Schoolwide policy requires all application materials to arrive in our office before the deadline. But as you can see, some programs (NOT ALL) will accept applications and materials after the posted deadline.

Once the deadline has passed, applications may close at any time. We do our best to keep you informed of upcoming closings, but cannot guarantee an admissions review if you haven't completed your application before the deadline.

Best wishes to you and your application!

SleuthI love a good mystery. Sherlock Holmes, Maisie Dobbs, Hercule Poirot are all dear friends of mine.  They’re also my competitors, because my favorite thing about mysteries is trying to solve the puzzle before the hero (or heroine).

So imagine the pleasure I get by solving this mystery for you. . .

I submitted all the required materials. I see them applied to my online application. My application is under review, so why is it still “incomplete?”

This seemingly contradictory notation generally appears in applications of those currently completing coursework or a degree. Your school likely sent us an “in progress” transcript showing your coursework to date.

While this “in progress” transcript is typically sufficient for our admissions review, it will not fulfill the University’s final transcript requirement.  If you are admitted and before you begin classes at the School of Public Health, you will need to provide an official final transcript showing your newly completed courses and the grades you earned.

As long as the individual requirements (letters of recommendation, test scores, transcripts, etc.) have been fulfilled and your application is under review, there is nothing more to do until you receive your decision.

One final, important note in the solving of this mystery: admitted students who do not provide final documentation may not be able to register for classes or receive federal funding.

That sounds scary, but if you pay attention to communication from us, monitor your online application and follow this blog, it’s elementary!
