I have a BS in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University,  DVM from Colorado State University, and a  MSpVM from North Carolina State University where I completed my residency training in avian medicine and surgery. I am the Director of Veterinary Medicine for PETCO Animal Supplies in San Diego, CA. I am married (Heide - also a veterinarian) with 3 children (19, 16, 16),  3 dogs, 1 cat, 5 chinchillas, 2 tortoises, 3 birds, 1 snake, multiple fish, and 2 turtles".  I decided to pursue the part-time MPH program so I could further my knowledge of zoonotic diseases common to pet animals and alternatives to animals utilized in research while maintaining my job at PETCO.  The quality of the education provided by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has surpassed my expectations and I am continually impressed by the on-line classes and availability of the professors.
