The MPH has been a goal spurred by many years of humanitarian work, and the richness of the learning that Hopkins offers gives me the motivation to manage the course load while serving in Iraq as a relief and development officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).  The Epi book was ubiquitous – on the elliptical, in armored vehicles where I often studied by flashlight, through a bout with typhoid – and the internet connections are often creative...   The JHSPH courses both inform my work and give me a sense of growth that extends beyond my current context, and I am thoroughly enjoying the degree.

We have an overriding obligation to reduce suffering, wherever we find it.Jason Mathey
