Mission Statement

The members of the Anna Baetjer Society are as diverse and varied as the field of public health itself, but we share a common interest in its practice.  We wish to make a difference in the health of communities by working to solve problems which correspond to our broad range of backgrounds and interests.  We realize that, although valuable, the classroom is not a venue capable of meeting all of our needs.  We seek to enhance our academic, professional, and social experience during our stay at the Bloomberg School of Public Health as members of this Society.
Therefore, we come together in this Society to augment our formal training in public health:

  • To enhance our educational experience through extracurricular experiences corresponding to the interests of our members

  • To make new acquaintances, share our experiences, and learn from one another

  • To foster relationships with current practitioners of public health

  • To work for constructive change in our world on the local, regional, national, and international level

  • To enhance the health of the community in which we live and work, East Baltimore, through service

  • To support each other in our individual and collective endeavors, academic and professional, throughout the year and in the years to come
