Wednesday 12/12 | Featuring Kirsten Thompson New contraceptives... for men
Click here for the PowerPoint Presentation! There are a dozen new methods of birth control for men under development. Ever heard of RISUG, the IVD, Adjudin, or the pill for men? Kirsten Thompson, director of the Male Contraception Coalition, will tell you all about them. Learn why a male hormonal contraceptive won't be a pill, and how RISUG provides side effect-free and 100% effective contraception for a decade in a single dose. Think men won't use new contraceptives or that women won't trust them to use them? Take a look at the results of sociological surveys from 4 continents that found up to 80% of men would use a male pill, and less than 2% of women wouldn't trust their partners to do so. The Male Contraception Coalition works to inform the public about emerging methods of birth control, prepare family planning service providers to counsel clients about them, and strengthen financial and institutional support for male contraceptive researchers around the world. 12:15 - 1:15pm W2008
