Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) degree programs offer an alternative to the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree for students desiring more focused training and for less experienced students. MSPH students directly apply what they learn in classes with practical experience that is part of their degree program so that upon graduation they can begin or advance their careers as public health professionals. At a minimum, they require 4 terms of full-time coursework, a written culmination such as an essay or other written exercise, and an internship (field experience) appropriate to their program. MSPH programs are offered by the following departments of the School: Environmental Health Sciences Occupation and Environmental Hygiene Health Behavior and Society Health Education and Health Communication Health Policy and Management Health Policy International Health Global Disease Epidemiology and Control Health Systems Human Nutrition Peace Corps Masters International Program Social and Behavioral Interventions Population, Family and Reproductive Health Child and Adolescent Health and Development Peace Corps Masters International Program Population and Health Reproductive, Perinatal and Women's Health Please contact the academic coordinator of the appropriate department or the Admissions Office for additional information regarding a specific MHS or MSPH program. Beginning with the 2010-11 academic year, the names of degree programs previously designated as professional MHS degree programs were changed to MSPH degree programs. Admission and graduation requirements and educational objectives remained the same. The name change is not retroactive. |
