Dr. Douglass Given is the founder and managing partner of G5 Partners LLC (G5P). G5P is Menlo Park based and was established in 2014 to provide Life Sciences strategic advisory, corporate development, venture formation, venture financing and board services. Current selected clients include Arrowhead Research Corp, the American Medical Association, Medical eXellence Inc, Vivaldi Biosciences Inc and Health2047 Inc. He is the CEO of Health2047, a San Francisco based, rapid prototyping and product design lab, innovating, partnering, and forming ventures addressing the Future Practice of Medicine and Healthcare, formed by the AMA and its partners.
Doug is a former partner at Bay City Capital LLC, a San Francisco based Life Sciences Venture Capital firm he joined in 2000, serving as a General Partner, Investment Partner and on the Investment Committee from 2004-2014, and as an Advisor until June 2015.
Doug held positions as Corporate Sr Vice President, Chief Technology Officer and head of Corporate Research at Mallinckrodt Inc, Vice President at Schering Plough Corp, Vice President at Monsanto/GD Searle and Medical Advisor and Clinical Investigator at Eli Lilly. He has been a Director of numerous public and private companies and is currently Chairman at Arrowhead Research Corp (NASDAQ: ARWR), Vivaldi Biosciences Inc, Vivaldi AG Vienna and Medical eXellence Inc and a Director at Health2047 Inc. He held positions as CEO at Progenitor Inc (NASDAQ: PGEN), NeoRx Corp (NASDAQ: NERX), and Vivaldi Biosciences Inc. Dr Given has extensive experience in corporate development and venture funding and capital market financings including IPOs.
Doug is a member of the University of Chicago Medical Center and Pritzker School of Medicine Visiting Committee since 1995, serving as its Chair 2007-2013. He is member of the Harvard School of Public Health International Advisory Council, the Stanford Medicine Community Council and advises The Houston Methodist Hospital Research Institute. Doug received his MD and PhD from the University of Chicago. He was a Clinical and Research Fellow, Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Doug received his MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
