Bloomberg American Health Initiative

Focus Areas

As part of the Bloomberg American Health Initiative, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health will tackle critical health threats facing the United States.

Major advances in public health over the last century included the prevention of infectious disease and the promotion of clean air and water.

The Initiative's five modern challenges may not have been at the center of public health activities in the twentieth century, but they demand strong and coherent public health responses today.

For each area, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health will launch new research efforts, train future leaders and develop networks of public and private organizations using evidence to make progress.
