The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is working on several fronts to respond to the tsunami disaster. The Bloomberg School’s Center for Refugee and Disaster Response already has personnel working on relief efforts in Indonesia, is deploying a team of emergency physicians and nurses to work with the International Rescue Committee, is assisting Project HOPE in planning its response efforts and is coordinating with other relief agencies on the ground to explore additional means of assistance. In the past, the School has trained 150 public health officials from South Asia in a disaster management course. One such course was completed just months ago.

Following is a list of major relief organizations:

American Red Cross

B'nai B'rith International

Catholic Relief Services

Helen Keller International

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

International Rescue Committee

Lutheran World Relief Society

Project HOPE

Relief International

Stop Hunger Now

United Way International

US Fund for UNICEF

World Health Organization

World Relief

United States Agency for International Development
