About the Society

The J. B. Grant International Health Society is a MPH student organization founded at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 1994 as a social, academic, and professional vehicle to stimulate discussion of the health issues besetting people in less developed countries. The Society serves as a forum where students with common interests can meet and plan projects and activities on their own initiative. Master of Science and PhD students interested in International Health are invited to attend the Society's events

These and other activities enhance the image of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health by focusing public attention on the work of international public health researchers, scholars, policy-makers, and primary health care practitioners.

The Society also promotes student networking with alumni, faculty, and various international organizations to facilitate opportunities for students interested in international health careers.

The Society is holding a number of different activities this year. There are a series of lunchtime seminars which will cover a wide range of international health topics and are given by our students and faculty, as well as by renowned speakers from different parts of the world. International movie nights will feature films from around the world, all with English subtitles. The Society exists for the benefit of its members who are encouraged to organize ad hoc events related to their international health which statisfy their interests. Additional seminars and activities are sponsored in conjunction with the Department of International Health and other societies.
