Purpose: The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, through the JHU ERC, supports promising new projects by independent junior investigators to enhance occupational health research training through direct support of pilot project research activities.
Eligibility: Applicants must be doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows (including Occupational Medicine residents) or full-time faculty who have not established support for their research through other mechanisms of funding. Evaluation of projects will be based on relevance to worker health and safety, merit of the research, need for support and potential to enhance occupational health research training capacity. Inclusion of an aspect of interdisciplinary interaction and research topics that concern NIOSH priorities will be considered application strengths.
Funding: Grants are for one year and cannot exceed $15,000 (direct costs only). IRB approval must be obtained before funds are released to the investigator. This support may be used for research expenses for which there are no other means of support and may not be used for salary, tuition or stipend.
