Publication of Doctoral Dissertations and Master's Essays

1. When students successfully complete their dissertations, they are required to submit a hard copy to the Sheridan Libraries' Commercial Binding Office. At that time, if the student wants to restrict the dissemination of the dissertation, a request can be made. The policy is to honor such requests for period of five years. Requests for restricted use are made in cases where a patent application is anticipated or when a student intends to turn the dissertation into a longer publication.

2. It is standard practice for dissertations to also be published and made available online and via microfilm through a company called ProQuest. Again, students can request restricted access, but they must do it at the time of submission.
